The Ferry from Piraeus to Methana

How to get here

BY AIR

Fly to Athens Eleftherios Venizelos airport. From UK BA, Olympicair.com, Aegean and EasyJet all have at least one direct flight a day (some have two) from either Heathrow, Gatwick, or Luton. EasyJet also fly from Manchester. There are departures from other UK airports with many airlines, routing via one European city.

There are two ways to get to Methana from the airport. For your convenience throughout your stay, we strongly recommend that you hire a car when booking your flight and drive directly to Methana. Click here for our printable, detailed directions which include stops for meals, shops that will break up your journey and points of interest in the Greek countryside.. The drive from Athens to Methana takes about three hours. Altertnatively, take the frequent X96 bus at the airport terminal direct to the portof Piraeus (one hour) thence by ferry to Methana (two hours).

As there is only one bus a day from Methana town to the village – 12 km. – we again emphasise that a car is essential for your holiday. Should you decide to drive to Methana from the airport we recommend advance booking of a hire car to collect at the airport as the demand may be great during the holiday period. However should you decide to travel by bus and ferry we can arrange for a hire car to be available to you in Methana, but book well in advance.

DRIVING

This is a straightforward drive of about three hours, on a motoway to Corinth, across the famous Corinth Canal and down the eastern Peloponnese – detailed instructions can be made available.

BY FERRY

The buses from the airport are frequent, cheap and easy and the ferries large and comfortable and without the need for advance booking. However there are a maximum of four per day during the holiday season, the first about 07.30, the last about 18.30 which may determine your choice of onward travel. Make sure you have at least two hours from the aircraft arrival time before the last ferry.

BY ROAD

Should you wish to make the drive across Europe, there are ferries from Venice, Ancona or Brindisi to Patras, then about three and half hours onward by road.
